Champers arrived in Sydney
quarantine station 5 days after Yank, she breezed
through quarantine and was soon at home with us in
Queensland. Her first show in Australia was the day
after she arrived in Qld. Champers loved the ring, the
limelight, the attention and was a wonderful show dog.
In her second show she won the first of many Junior in
Group awards. Her first interstate outing was Sydney
Royal 1999 under breed specialist Mrs Wera Hubenthal
where she blitzed the field and won BOB from a large
entry. In the same year she added Brisbane, Melbourne
and Darwin Royal CC's to her tally. She also won the
Bitch CC at the two Spring Fair shows that November in
Sydney - these have the biggest Briard entries every
year, she also added to her group tally at these shows
winning Intermediate in Group under a Finnish judge.
In 2000 she was not shown much but has still
managed to pick up another two Royal CC'c at Toowoomba
and Brisbane Royal 2000 where she won BOB under breed
specialist Rodi Hubenthal.
Champers was carefully chosen to
compliment our existing European lines, her bloodlines
combine very well with Henri's lines. Her type and her
temperament could have done much for Australian
Briards. Unfortunately this will never happen as she
is quite dysplastic and will never be bred from. She
has been desexed is now lives comfortably with friends
where part of her 'job' is to welcome visitors to a
large boarding kennel.
